SEC’s Gary Gensler Appears on Sesame Street to Educate Children on the Dangers of Cryptocurrency

SESAME STREET - Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman, Gary Gensler, recently appeared on an episode of Sesame Street to warn children of the dangers of cryptocurrency, which he views as dangerous unregistered securities.

Appearing alongside Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, recently added Bitcoin Maxi character ‘Julian’ and others, Chairman Gensler covered a broad range of topics such as staking, crypto exchanges and the dangers of unregistered securities.

“But what if Elmo likes buying Dogecoin? Elmo loves doggies!” Elmo stated enthusiastically in one interaction, to which Chairman Gensler responded “if Elmo or Elmo’s parents think Dogecoin is a good investment, you might end up living in a trash-can with Oscar!”

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s recent crackdown on the cryptocurrency sector has sent shockwaves through the industry. Following the collapse of FTX, Chairman Gensler has taken it upon himself to reign in the volatile industry.

During a duet with Cookie Monster, Chairman Gensler drove home his point with a new take on the beloved song, C is for Cookie, singing “C is for crypto that’s not good enough for the SEC, C is for crypto that’s not good enough for the SEC, C is for crypto that’s not good enough for the SEC, ohhhhhh crypto crypto crypto is a securitttyyyy” while the entire Sesame Street cast danced in the background.

During a touching moment late in the episode, the Bitcoin Maxi Sesame Street character, Julian, emerged from the cardboard box he spends most episodes in to ask Chairman Gensler: “well, are there any projects that are not bad?”

“Well funny you should ask, Julian” Chairman Gensler said with a smile “if you’re looking for a reasonably compliant blockchain project, look no further than Bitcoin!”

A visibly excited Julian, wearing his favorite aluminum foil hat, then proceeded to run around with his arms in the air joyfully yelling “hyper-bitcoinization” for the remainder of the episode - an unusual event for the normally reserved & reclusive Sesame Street character.
