Solana's SOL price has been rising in recent days even as more established cryptocurrencies like bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH) have remained flat – influenced by the recently launched dogecoin-themed token Bonk (BONK).
Launched via airdrop, the new Bonk token has led to speculative purchases in the memcoin & increased utilization of Solana as the apes descend on the protocol.
The most mysterious part of the project is its little known creators: Sam Bankmano-Friedo and Carolina Ellisonita.
The pair of entrepreneurs who hail from “somewhere South America ways" have risen from obscurity to take the memecoin world by storm.
The Daily Sybil was fortunate to get a brief interview with the two, who were excited to describe their new project.
When asked about the goals of the project Mr. Bankmano-Friedo was quick to emphasize in what appeared to be a fake Spanish accent “Bonk is muy fair, it’s the dinero for the future.’
Carolina Ellisonita, sporting an even less believable Spanish accent jumped in to note “Bonk will help the Solana comunidad, it's definitivamente not a scam”
However, many in the cryptocurrency community have reason to believe that disgraced former FTX founder, Sam Bankman-Fried may be behind the project in some way. Ben Armstrong, also known for his online persona “Bitboy Crypto”, has noted publically that he believes SBF and Alameda are responsible for Bonk.

Bonk has gained traction amongst those in the Solana community, but like many ‘pump & dumps’ there is a chance this memecoin might end up getting dumped on unsuspecting retail users.
When pressed on possible involvement from the disgraced FTX founder, Mr. Bankmano-Friedo was quick to push back saying this was “Muy ridículo”, which he appeared to read out of a google-translate tab.
For those considering investing in Bonk, consider the old adage “Fool me once shame on you, fool me 150 times please take away my internet connection.”
